Separate Them!

"And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness" (Genesis 1:4)

In the beginning, Elohim made all that constituted the world. He made light and saw that it was good. He then separated the light from the darkness. So with the temporal, so with the spiritual. Light represents righteousness and truth. Incidentally, the divine logos (Word) tell us that light was in the world but mankind preferred the darkness (which symbolises unrighteousness and falsehood), because their deeds were evil (John 3:19).

Notice also, that Elohim separated the light from the darkness. He did it physically and He demands it spiritually.

14Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? 16What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said,

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 17Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, 18and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to Me, says the Lord Almighty.”

Listen what Yahweh said to Jeremiah His prophet. Therefore thus says the LORD: “If you return, I will restore you, and you shall stand before Me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as My mouth. They shall turn to you, but you shall not turn to them. (Jeremiah 15:19)

What comes out of your mouth? Does it glorify the Creator? Does it reflect a separation from the darkness of this present and evil world? Isaiah, though he was prophesying, recognised the filthiness of his lips and cried out, “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” (Isaiah 6:5, ESV) Yes, we can be preaching, teaching, prophesying, worhipping, singing, but the lips are not truly sanctified. James said,

9With it [the tongue] we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God. 10From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers,c these things ought not to be so. 11Does a spring pour forth from the same opening both fresh and salt water? 12Can a fig tree, my brothers, bear olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Neither can a salt pond yield fresh water. (James 3:9-12, ESV)

We cannot truly be effective for Yah if we refuse to separate the light from the darkness. Paul said, "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear" (Ephesians 4:29, ESV). That includes lies, gossip, expletives, slander, blasphemy, heresy, etc. Let us make a conscious effort to get it right. Light and darkness cannot mix. Separate them, as Elohim did, and as He requires.

Walk good!
